Hui Aloha Pu'ukapu Board of Directors:

Chris Juan, President
Chris is an established sole proprietor, managing and operating his welding business for over 17 years. He and his 'ohana have resided in Pu‘ukapu Pastoral since 2003 and are regularly active in Pu‘ukapu Pastoral community events, emergency response and coordination. Chris is a representative for the Pu‘ukapu Pastoral Firewise Community. He enjoys ranching, camping, and spending time with friends and family.

William 'Keawe' Whittle, Vice-President
Keawe has spent the last two decades in Pu‘ukapu Pastoral Hawaiian Homestead. His roots are deeply entrenched in Waimea, where he was raised amidst the timeless traditions of ranching and farming.
As the proud owner and operator of Whittle Farms, Keawe is deeply committed to preserving our Hawaiian cultural legacy and ensuring the sustainability of his family's future. His ‘ohana is rooted in 'aloha ‘
āina', a principle that underscores the profound connection and respect we hold for the land and its offerings.
Keawe's professional journey is marked by extensive experience in carpentry, ranching, and farming – skills that he has honed over the years and that reflect his dedication to hard work and craftsmanship.
With his wife, Leilani, and their six wonderful children, they enjoy going to the beach, horseback riding and actively participating in local rodeos. 


Penny Kaae, Secretary

Janelle Juan, Treasurer
Born and raised here in Hawaii. Janelle has been a part of Chris’ established sole proprietor welding business and ranching for over 17 years handling bookkeeping. She has resided in Pu‘ukapu Pastoral since 2005 and is regularly active in Pu‘ukapu Pastoral community events, emergency response and coordination. She too is committed in preserving our Hawaiian cultural legacy and ensuring the sustainability of her family's future. She has been doing accounting for 14 years and is passionate on assisting our Pu’ukapu community.  Janelle along with her Ohana enjoy family time, ranching and camping. 

Penny Uyetake, Board Member
Penny was born and raised on the beautiful island of Hawaiʻi. She is a fourth-generation rancher and farmer and has dedicated her life to preserving what was taught to her from her Kūpuna. Penny's passion lies in continuing to instill her Hawaiian upbringing values and culture within her two children and to ensure our heritage continues to thrive. Penny and her family continue to strive to be self-sustainable and live off the ʻāina as we were all intended too. Penny and her 'ohana have been mālama ka ‘āina in Puʻukapu since 2015 and have established their new ranch raising cattle, sheep and poultry along with numerous amounts of fruit trees and lāʻau lapa‘au herbs. Penny's work history comes from a long line of construction background, public water works, along with owning an animal care business for 30+ years. Penny is also a volunteer of Pu‘ukapu Pastoral Firewise Community. Her passion is ranching, planting, crafting and spending time with friends and family.
