Engaging the Greater Community of Ranchers & Farmers

For the safety and sustainability of our aloha 'āina

For the greater Pu'ukapu Pastoral Hawaiian Homestead Community

Hui Aloha Pu'ukapu is a 501c(3) Non-Profit incorporated in August of 2021, soon after the Mana Road Fire ravaged our community and that of neighboring lands. Individual community members of Pu'ukapu Pastoral Lots gathered together to grieve and process this traumatic event, but also to holomua - rise up and move forward as a community. Hui Aloha Pu'ukapu was born. Membership is open to all lessees, successors and residents of Pu‘ukapu Pastoral Hawaiian Homestead.

We have learned a lot following the Mana Road Fire including the importance of maintaining low fire fuel loadings and adequate fire breaks. We continue to work towards common goals with the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands on proactive measures to reduce the risk of wildfire and protect our health and safety. To meet this goal, we have implemented a Community Grazing Project, and have recently received a grant in support of this program.
Learn more about our Community Grazing Project
In addition to our community grazing project, some of our goals include assisting in self-sufficiency by creating a community herd that can provide for the sustainability of the organization, while also allowing lessees the opportunity to raise their own cattle. Our Community Safety & Outreach Program seeks to provide educational material and outreach on safety, disaster preparedness, and land stewardship best practices. By working as a community, we ensure we manage and move forward with the love of 'āina and connection to culture in the forefront. We invite all residents and lessees of the Pu'ukapu Pastoral Hawaiian Homestead Community to help ensure this mission and vision for a greater Pu'ukapu Pastoral community.
